About this scam type

Courier & Parcel

Courier scams send SMS about held parcels, customs fees, or delivery failures with phishing links. Legitimate couriers use official tracking — not random UPI IDs for release fees.

Who is targeted: Online shoppers expecting deliveries, especially during festival sale seasons.

Warning signs

  • !Fee to release a parcel you did not order
  • !Customs clearance via personal UPI ID
  • !Link to confirm address with login page
  • !Small fee (₹49–₹999) to reschedule delivery

What to do

  1. 1Track only on the courier's official website or app
  2. 2Do not pay customs to unknown UPI IDs via SMS
  3. 3Verify unexpected parcels with family who may have ordered
  4. 4Delete SMS and block sender if suspicious
