SIM Swap Alert
SIM swap fraud moves your mobile number to a scammer's SIM — intercepting OTPs for banking. Warning signs include sudden loss of network on your phone.
Who is targeted: High-value bank account holders and anyone receiving unexpected network loss SMS.
Warning signs
- !No network suddenly while phone shows full battery
- !SMS about SIM upgrade you did not request
- !Bank OTP received when you did not transact
- !Caller claiming telecom KYC on old number
What to do
- 1Contact telecom provider immediately from another phone
- 2Visit service centre with ID if network lost unexpectedly
- 3Enable email alerts for all bank transactions
- 4Register for Do-Not-Disturb and SIM change alerts if offered
