About this scam type

SIM Swap Alert

SIM swap fraud moves your mobile number to a scammer's SIM — intercepting OTPs for banking. Warning signs include sudden loss of network on your phone.

Who is targeted: High-value bank account holders and anyone receiving unexpected network loss SMS.

Warning signs

  • !No network suddenly while phone shows full battery
  • !SMS about SIM upgrade you did not request
  • !Bank OTP received when you did not transact
  • !Caller claiming telecom KYC on old number

What to do

  1. 1Contact telecom provider immediately from another phone
  2. 2Visit service centre with ID if network lost unexpectedly
  3. 3Enable email alerts for all bank transactions
  4. 4Register for Do-Not-Disturb and SIM change alerts if offered
