Lottery and KBC scams claim you won a prize — then demand tax, handling fee, or delivery charge via UPI. You cannot win a contest you never entered.

Who is targeted: General public; SMS and WhatsApp broadcasts target millions randomly.

Warning signs

  • !Prize from KBC, lottery, or brand you never applied to
  • !Fee required to release winnings
  • !Request for Aadhaar or bank details to claim prize
  • !Celebrity photo used in fake winner announcement

What to do
