About this scam type

Check Link

Phishing links mimic bank login, UPI pay, KYC update, or prize claim pages. Paste the full URL before clicking — typosquatting domains (paytm-secure.in) are extremely common.

Who is targeted: Anyone who received a link via SMS, WhatsApp, email, or social media.

Warning signs

  • !HTTP (not HTTPS) on login-like pages
  • !Misspelled brand names in the domain
  • !Shortened links (bit.ly, tinyurl) hiding destination
  • !IP address instead of domain name

What to do

  1. 1Do not open the link — use the official app instead
  2. 2If opened by mistake, do not enter password or OTP
  3. 3Clear browser history and run antivirus if you entered details
  4. 4Report URL at cybercrime.gov.in
